Rosters set for Main Event, Underclass events

The summer is always busy at Future Stars Series, but the fall… well, it’s going to slap, as the kids say.

New Balance Future Stars Series has announced its roster for four signature events, covering four-plus classes of amateur baseball players, with the Main Event (2025) being unveiled live on YouTube Thursday night.

Here are the rosters for the four events:

Main Event (’25) | Globe Life Field | Oct. 4-6

Underclass Elite (’26) | Fenway Park | Aug. 30- Sep. 1

Underclass Premier (’27 | Dunkin Park | Sep. 13-15

Recap: 2024 Future Stars Series 2027/2028 Grad Class National Tournaments

The New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series wrapped up another stay in Nashville strong, finishing up with the 2027/2028 Grad Class National Tournaments from August 1-4.

Mother Nature ultimately forced the postponement of the scheduled testing day on Tuesday, but the tournament itself mostly went off without a hitch, comprised of 12 teams in three separate pools that featured some of the top 2027 and 2028 Draft-eligible players, as well as a handful of younger talent playing up. With the event mostly slated to be played at historic Shelby Park, there were also some pool play games held at Goodpasture Christian Academy, as well as a late adjustment for a return to The Webb School for three contests on Friday when rain delayed the start of games for three hours.

Three teams ran the gauntlet in pool play; BPA, Trombly Baseball’s 2027 team and GamePrep all went 4-0 and all earned first round byes, as did a talented Sandlot team that only suffered a one-run loss to GamePrep in pool play early on.

In the end, four teams were left standing on the last day, with LB21 and BPA set to square off for the 2028 Grad Class National Championship, while the FSS Mid-South team — formerly the Sports Academy club, and one that made a stunning run through the playoffs after going 1-3 in pool play — was up against LB21’s other team at the event for the 2027 Grad Class National Championship.

BPA dominated their game at Mickey Hiter Field, getting a complete game shutout from Quincy Pratt, one of two younger brothers of FSS alum Cooper Pratt playing at the event, to take the 2028 title in six innings via run rule. On Old Timers Field, however, a much more competitive game for the title unfolded; FSS Mid-South got off to an early lead and ultimately never looked back against a fiesty LB21 team to take the 2027 title.

About the only thing disappointing about the first day of games of the highly anticipated 2024 New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series National Combine was the weather finally catching up with us in the end.

But even an on again, off again, and then very on again series of persistent showers couldn't put a damper on the festivities at Hawkins Field at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where some big arms and some FSS veterans put on a show until the third game was finally suspended heading into the fifth inning.

Here's a quick look at a few of the standouts from the first day of games...

Future Stars Series National Tourney, Combines continue in Nashville

The New Balance Future Stars Series has spent the better part of the last month in Nashville, with hundreds of player showing off their skills in combine, head-to-head, and tournament-style play and workouts.

The Underclass Combines at Charles Hawkins Field, the home of the Vanderbilt Commodores, kicked off the events.

The classes of 2027 and 2028 followed:

Our National Combine (class of 2025) gets underway Tuesday.

Ongoing in Nashville is our National Tournaments covering the four classes.

In the coming days our scouting staff will announce All-Tourney teams and All-Prospect teams. Stay tuned right here and via our social accounts.

All this leads up to our Underclass Elite (’26) at Fenway Park August 30 through September 1, Underclass Premier (’27) and Fresh 50 (’28-29) at Dunkin Donuts Park (CT) September 13-15, and our Main Event (’25) at Minute Maid Park in Houston September 27.

Our third day in for the 2027-2028 Underclass Combine brought us Day 2 of games, and with it, the ability to see some situational player response.

To get here, most everyone plays up the middle or pitches. That's the name of the game in today’s amateur world. But, the reality is very few project there, and we put this organization together step-by-step based primarily on future potential, makeup, character, partner program, and ethics.

Day 2 action is when those things tend to show up, and when we see who’s made of what.

It’s go time here at the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series. Monday, we landed back in Nashville for workout day for the 2027-28 Underclass Combine, the event that leads directly to the Underclass Premier (2027’s) and Fresh 50 (2028 and some 2029’s) at Dunkin Park in Hartford.

This level is always interesting as you truly get a mix of talent and preparedness, as it is a culture setter for these players in an important transition phase, crossing over so much of their lives.

Tuesday, we witnessed exactly that -- a cross of performance and tools, with a mix of baseball IQ.

BOOTH: Talent galore at the NorCal World Series

This time of year, man, there are players and places, and at least I get to do it at all levels. That covers the earliest entry into the full- size diamond, international players and signings, college, and the big leagues. The evaluation filter required is so different at each stop that it can get on you in a hurry.

Looking back on 2024 thus far, I’ve seen thousands of players already. That's a real number, and it’s been fun and a refreshing aspect of being with the Future Stars Series family. The stop we’re talking about here involved 200 players at the NorCal World Series, the premier event in Northern California.

This year’s edition added a day and special event piece on Thursday, and it was as electric as the rest of the weekend was throughout. This year, the question of 'what’s in the water? is a valid one.

2026 Underclass Combine: Day 3 Scouting Notes

The class of 2026 Underclass Combine is in the books, and it was exceptional.

In these events, the actual game of baseball is played with constant evaluation and instruction passed on each day. The guys get better every day, it’s just that simple, and the progress is fun to watch.

Day 3 was the conclusion of this year's event, and it was, per usual, clean and hard-fought with roster spots to the Underclass Elite at Fenway Park on the line. I could write for a month on the day 3 standouts, but I'll go until I get tired.

2026 Underclass Combine: Day 2 Scouting Notes

Day 2 is the day players begin to settle in. Nerves calm, personalities come out, and it’s time to get to work. The jitters dissipate and the ballpark comes alive instead of feeling tense and cold.

Of course, the atmosphere here at Vanderbilt is one of brotherhood and unity, and it’s great to see that infectious approach again.

Diving into Day 2, we get into the execution of the games and the flow of watching players improve in real-time through ownership of their process. It was a good day for many.
